Rosa banksiae Aiton var. normalis Regel This is the wild type of Rosa banksiae, common in hedges, growing into trees or hanging down steep rocky hillsides at low altitudes below 2000m. This is the dominant rose of the foothills of the mountains of Yunan, growing as a shrub or climbing up trees to a height of 15m. First introduced in 1796. its single white flowers appear well before any of the white roses of the synstylae section, usually in March-June according to altitude. The small flowers are in umbels of 1- 10 cm across. Zone 8, will survive down to –10°C | ||||
