ROSA FILIPES ‘KIFTSGATE’
‘Kiftsgate’ is the clone of R. filipes that is usually cultivated; beyond the fact that it came from E.A.Bunyard’s nursery, its origin is not known. The original plant at Kiftsgate Court, Gloucestershire grows mightily into a large beech tree. The heads of small flowers are often 45cm (18in) or more across and hips are produced in great numbers.

The plant is reputed to need a sunny position to grow well, and if planted in shade will not reach full vigour until it has teached the sunlight. Zone 6, will survive down to –20°C.
