This form of ‘Old Blush China’ has been growing in the Chateau d’Hex in southern Belgium since the late18th century, when it was brought back from China via the Compagnie des Indes, for the garden of the Prince Bishop of Liege, Charles de Velbruck. Good evidence from a dated painting suggests that this specimen may be a plant of the earlier 'lost' introduction of 1750. (See the main 'Old Blush' entry). Photographed at Kasteel Hex in eastern Belgium. | ||||||
