A China, raised by Dubreuil in 1887. The double, shapely flowers are deep cherry red with maroon shading, well-scented. The sepals and the tips of the leaflets are elongated; the branches have numerous hooked thorns. Jeanne-Alexandrine-Marguerite Sellière, Princesse de Sagan, died in 1905. Photographed by Bill Grant.
