Introduced to the west in 1924, but grown for many years before that in Japan and possibly for hundreds of years in China. The petals are soft and silky, the buds are egg shaped and inclined to ball in wet weather, subject to some mildew. Growth is bushy and compact up to 3 feet (2m)high. Two photographs was sent to us from Japan by Sala, we thank her, the other two photographs were taken in new Zealand. |
