Rosa virginiana Miller A bush up to 2 m high, with pairs of stout decurved thorns at the leaf bases, and few other similar internodal thorns. Stipules usually glandular dentate. Leaflets 7 – 9, usually acute, glabrous or pubescent on the veins below. Flowers solitary or few together; pedicels and hips with glandular bristles. Sepals attenuate with leafy tips. Native of eastern North America from Newfoundland to Pennsylvania to Ontario and Arkansas. Zone 5, will survive down to –25°C | ||||
