In the caninae section. A hairy dog rose in which the styles are elongated into a narrow column, with white or pale-pink flowers. Stems climbing, 2-4m; prickles wide at the base and curved. Leaflets 3-6cm long, rather narrow, tapering to the base, with simple, long and curved teeth, hairy on the veins beneath, and with a hairy and prickly rhachis. Flower stalks very glandular. Petals 1.5-3cm long, white or pale pink. Styles elongated but not joined. Hips smooth, slightly elongated, with a short, nipple-like point. . Mainly in southern Europe, east to Bulgaria.
