AUSTRIAN COPPER Rosa foetida is a bright yellow rose found wild from Turkey east to Pakistan, and in Central Asia. In ‘Bicolor’ the flowers are yellow outside, but bright orange inside. This is an old Turkish variety, recorded in the 12th century, and brought first to Vienna from Constantinople, hence its association with Austria. All varieties of Rosa foetida grow best in dry warm areas such as inland California, the drier western States, Australia and southern Europe. Affected by black spot. Zone 5, will survive down to –25°C. | ||||
