This rose was raised from seed collected by F M Meyer in 1910 near Samarkand in central Asia, but has not been recognized in recent Russian floras. It makes a bush up to 2m high, with very aromatic foliage, with an incense scent and exceptionally long leaves which may have as many as 15 leaflets on strong shoots, 9-13 on flowering side branches.
