Rosa pimpinellifolia var. Altaica Wild. Thory syn. Rosa pimpinellifolia ‘Grandiflora’ The flowers are large for the group up to 8cm across, creamy white. very prickly but lacking the bristles of the true R. pimpinellifolia. A shrub up to 2m in height. Introduced from Siberia before 1820. This rose is one of the parents of the ‘Frülings’ group of roses and also an ancestor of ‘Maigold’. The hips were photographed in Australia by Lilia Weatherly.
