This may be a single sport of ‘Parson’s Pink’, but is also an old Chinese variety, still to be found growing in gardens in China, e.g. in Chengdu, Sichuan, where it forms a bush around 6 feet (2m) tall, continually in flower. In cool gardens in England it is usually much smaller, to 2 feet (60cm). It was mentioned in Vibert’s catalogue of 1820. |
