Introduced by Descemet before 1815. Stems upright to 1.5m, with few thorns. Leaflets elliptic. Flowers solitary, rarely in pairs, medium-sized, flat, fully-double and quatered with a button eye. Colour crimson in the centre, with mauve veins around the edge. Scent poor. Photographed at the François Joyaux’s Roseraie de la Cour de Commer near Mayenne France. The view was taken at Malmaison in the Empress Josephine's garden reconstruction in France. |
