An Alba rose. This is the name given to forms of ‘Cuisse de Nymphe’ or ‘Great Maiden’s Blush’ q.v., with a slightly deeper pink blush than usual. It is uncertain whether this is a distinct clone or whether the deeper colour is caused by soil or temperature. The word émue, touched or affected, might produce the deeper blush. According to the list of the roses at Sangerhausen, ‘Cuisse de émue Nymphe’ was introduced by Dumont de Courset in 1802. Zone 3, surviving -25°C, and probably less. Photographed at the garden of Richard Rix Kent UK and Photographed in the rose garden at Malmaison France. |
