A Tea rose raised by Goinard in 1899. Flowers large, double, pink with salmon flushes, with a long bud. When fully open the outer petals reflex, the centre is crowded with muddled petals. Plant upright to 1.5m, with red new shoots. Parentage not recorded. The strange name commemorates a military alliance formed in 1894, as a counter to the rising power of Germany. The picture may be incorrect as the description in Dickerson says the flower should have more yellow, usually grading to salmon towards the centre and our picture lacks the yellow colour.
