An alba, raised by Vibert in 1817. A medium-sized, bushy shrub to 1.5m. Leaves grey-green. Flowers in nodding clusters, white, around 8cm across, fully double with a characteristic tight central rosette of small petals blocking the centre of the flower. Scent very good, likened by some to hyacinths. Zone 3, surviving -25°C, and probably less. Photographed at the garden of Richard Rix Kent UK. |
