Introduced by Laffay 1824-25.
I have followed Joyaux (1998) in placing this rose in Gallica, but it has also been considered in Centifolia, Alba, Damask and China.

Laffay himself possitioned it as a China Hybrid.

The scent of this rose is very close to the strong old rose scent of a Gallica.
