A miniature China rose, now generally seen in its climbing form. Close to wild Rosa chinensis in it’s early flowering, small, evergreen leaves and solitary pink flowers. A pretty rose, formerly sold in Paris as a dwarf pot rose, known since 1839. The climbing form reaches about 6 feet (2m), in height, and is best grown through another shrub. It is pretty with a Deutzia or Ceanothus which flowers at the same time, or with the later-flowering Solanum jasminoides. Photographed by Bill Grant. |
